Medical Insurance/Healthcare
Too many children in South Carolina are not covered by any type of health insurance. It's totally unacceptable for us as a state to deny our children quality healthcare benefits. Many use hospital emergency rooms for something as routine as the common cold which is causing a tremendous increase in the health care cost for everyone.
The cost of health insurance for the average taxpayer is continuing to sky rocket. These costs can often have a debilitating effect on small businesses in South Carolina. This is causing many small businesses to cut benefits for their employees or even close their business because they cannot compete in today's competitive market.
District 33, as well as the entire state of South Carolina, is rapidly becoming a service oriented economy. We must break this cycle by seeking out companies that are willing to relocate or build plants in this district and state. So that we can recapture and create many jobs that we have lost.
South Carolina is also in need for more easily accessible health benefits for our senior citizens. Our seniors should be allowed to keep their dignity and independence and be able to live in their own homes instead of being forced to go into some form of long term care facility, as these facilities create a tremendous burden on tax payers.
Education
Our children's education should be at the fore front of everyone's agenda. Some of the best schools in the state are here in District 33. We have wonderful teachers and administrators. We must find innovative ways to retain these people and entice others of their caliber to educate our children. We need to strive to provide our children in the public school system an equal or better education than the private sector offers, as our children are our future.
Enviromental Wellfare
Enivironmental issues must be more aggressively addressed. If we stop pollution, we can provide for a better environment for our future generations. We owe it to the future generations, our children and grandchildren, to not leave behind a polluted environment.
State Elected Official Restrictions
Many of our elected officials have become complacent in their positions partly because there are no term limits to the offices for which they were elected. We must utilize new ideas and think outside the proverbial box to stop the needless waste of our tax dollars and resources. We must have a balanced budget and cash revenue so that taxes can be stopped from continually being raised. This places a tremendous burden on every working or retired tax payer in District 33 and throughout the entire state of South Carolina. If we implement common sense reform and do away with two-faced elected officials that promise us everything and do nothing, South Carolina would have the potential to lead the nation as an exemplatory model.
Our elected officials, whatever party they represent, must come together as one body for the betterment of all the people they represent. Many of our elected politicians have forgotten their duty. That duty is not to be self serving, but is to do what's best for the people.
